Maternelle
Where children learn to speak, explore, create and grow — through language, movement, creativity and discovery, children develop the confidence, independence and curiosity that prepare them for future learning.
Learning through play.
The French Maternelle is a unique three-year cycle that transitions children from family life to academic learning. We follow the French National Education curriculum, focused on five areas of development.
Communicate through language
Building oral French through stories, songs and everyday conversation, and preparing children to enter the written language.
Act, move and express physically
Developing motor skills, coordination and confidence through games, movement and outdoor play.
Think through early mathematics
Learning to count, compare, sort and reason with numbers, shapes and quantities through hands-on activities.
Explore the world
Discovering living things, objects, time and space through observation, experimentation and curiosity.
Create through arts and imagination
Expressing ideas and emotions through drawing, music, movement and imaginative play.
