About Us
The Lycée International Français d’Almaty (LIFA) establishes in the city a French educational institution that is firmly grounded in the enduring academic partnership between France and Kazakhstan. The project benefits from the support of the French Embassy and from expertise mobilised through a creative development programme.
It is not a temporary programme, but the implantation of a proven institutional model. The French national curriculum, followed by more than 400,000 pupils worldwide within the network of French schools abroad, provides a coherent and internationally respected framework from early years to the Baccalaureate.
At LIFA, education forms both intellect and character. Pupils develop disciplined reasoning, cultural depth and intellectual independence within a demanding multilingual environment. French structures thought; English broadens horizons; Russian and Kazakh anchor pupils locally and regionally.
LIFA is chosen by families who seek a rigorous and enduring academic pathway designed for long-term responsibility and achievement.
VISION 2026 - 2030
LIFA offers an academic pathway recognised worldwide, from early years to the Baccalaureate. Organised in cycles, it ensures a structured progression in which each stage prepares the next without pedagogical disruption.
The development of the Lycée International Français d’Almaty is based on progressive expansion, coherent and aligned with the genuine needs of families.

KEY FACTS for 2026
Early Years
3 to 6 years old
An international French nursery (maternelle): caring, structured, and demanding. Children learn through play and exploration, develop language and foundational skills, and are introduced to languages and cultures.
Primary school
7 to 10 years old
Pupils build strong skills in French, mathematics, and science, while developing independence, critical thinking, and creativity. These learning experiences shape their thinking and prepare them to continue their education with confidence and rigour.
A Multilingual Pathway
French is the main language of instruction. 30% of the programme is taught in English. Russian and Kazakh maintain links to local culture. Non-French-speaking students benefit from a progressive integration pathway: initial assessment, support in French as the language of instruction (FLS), step-by-step objectives and regular follow-up points with families. All teachers are native speakers.
Location and class sizes
For 2026–2027, the programme will take place at the modern Prometheus School campus in the city centre, with classes limited to 20 students. Weekly hours are from 8am to 4pm. After-school activities are provided from 4pm to 6pm.
